Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be nationals of and ordinarily resident in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau).​
  • Must be applying to start a new full-time DPhil course at the University of Oxford.​
  • Should intend to return to China upon completion of their studies.​
  • Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, leadership potential, and the ability to become a decision-maker and opinion-former within China.​

Application Process

  • Submit a complete application for a full-time DPhil course at the University of Oxford by the relevant December or January deadline for your chosen course.​
  • Apply separately to the China Scholarship Council (CSC) for this scholarship. Detailed information and application procedures can be found on the CSC's official website.​
  • Ensure that your course application is considered in the initial round (December/January deadlines), as applications held over for later consideration are not eligible for this scholarship.​

 

 

  • Documents Required:
    • Completed University of Oxford graduate application form.​
    • All standard supporting documents required for the chosen DPhil course (e.g., academic transcripts, CV, research proposal, references).​
    • Separate application materials as required by the China Scholarship Council.​

Scholarship Benefits

  • Funding Coverage:
    • 100% of University and college fees.​
    • A grant for living costs (at least £19,237 for the 2025–26 academic year).​
    • One return economy-class flight from China to the UK.​

 

  • Duration of Funding:
    • Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.​
